A Brief History
Mike’s journey in engineering began under the mentorship of the legendary Chris Corbould OBE, where he honed his skills in creating cutting-edge special effects for blockbuster movies such as Inception, Quantum of Solace and The Dark Knight. These early experiences laid the foundation for his innovation at LUMINOUS.
Working in film special effects has allowed Mike to quickly adapt and find solutions in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. This dynamic industry requires concepts to be created, and equipment engineered at lightning speed. Adjustments are common along the way as projects evolve, and they must be responded to quickly. Unlike the long development cycles typical in traditional SFX engineering, the demands of film have shaped Mike’s ability to respond quickly and resourcefully to engineering queries.
Today, Mike leads our talented engineering team alongside Ed, transforming ambitious concepts into realities. From tackling complex special effects challenges in projects, to developing our product range, his expertise helps to ensure our work remains at the forefront of the industry.
