The Brief
To create confetti launching hardware
LUMINOUS and Event FX were tasked to produce custom-made confetti launching hardware for the reveal of the green Olympic Rings. This SFX equipment would be used in the opening ceremony.
The Solution
Full technical drawings had to be submitted to production prior to the creation of the hardware. As fitment was in scenic pieces being constructed by a South American supplier, consideration about the flexibility of installation was needed. The final design was developed from a single folded piece of steel and was compact and stackable for easy transport. The design incorporated fitment for a power supply, wireless firing device and the confetti launching equipment.
